Looking forward to what is to come for Effect CIC

Welcome to 2024

With the launch of our new website and a focus to activate our 2024 – 2025 program, here is a bit more about where Effect CIC is coming from.

We’ve been working with people and the community for all of our professional lives and we’re passionate about creating projects and making things happen in our community. We love doing this because we get a lot out of it – we love to see happiness, and positive things happening around us.

As artists we have spent many years creating music and playing in bands, these times have been so enjoyable for us, as we’ve been able to live our dreams of playing the music we love, sharing this with the collective happiness and enjoyment of the crowd. We’ve carved out our own adventures through this, developed as musicians, friends and individuals, fed off the inspiration that we have gained from our childhood heroes and given back to the scene that gave us so much when we were growing up. We want to pass what we have learned from these experiences on to others, through our events and workshops.

It’s not all been about writing and performing music. Working in the community for our day jobs has led us to work with young people in schools and colleges and with adults with mental health issues, learning and physical disabilities, in community spaces. We’ve worked in the wider community helping groups and individuals experience the joys and benefits of cycling and walking, we’ve put on large and small family-day events. All of these experiences have inspired us as we’ve seen the happiness and positive impact that this kind of work can bring.

Leading active lifestyles makes all of this so much more enjoyable and keeps us mentally and physically fit. We love bikes and bike culture, the outdoors, gardening and growing. Active lifestyles, creativity and community is what life is all about for us. Surfing has to be one of the most positive experiences for all round mental and physical health, we’re massive advocates for this activity and although we live in the land locked midlands, we do it when we can, there is nothing like the feeling you get from a surf, no matter if you’re a beginner or more advanced.

Effect CIC is based in Nottingham, but you’ll find us delivering projects further afield as well. Previously we have partnered with Creative Peaks arts organisation to kick start their sustainable travel focus to Lost in the Hills festival, their annual music and arts festival in Alstonfield, The Peak District. Effect CIC developed a Cycling Travel Plan so those arriving by bike have all of the information that they need to ride there. We’ve also collaborated with Creative Peaks when developing the program for the Eco Arts in the Peaks projects – a series of eco-arts Workshop events which took inspiration from the natural beauty of the Staffordshire Mooreland’s to help attendees engage in Arts, Culture and Heritage by developing their own creative practice, and an understanding of how nature can facilitate the production of a final piece of art.

At the heart of Effect CIC is the delivery of creativity based and physical activity based workshops and events, while building comminutity and working inclusively with individuals and groups who benefit from what we do. We’ll also keep the planet in mind while we’re doing it by always considering how we can make what we do more planet-kind. We’re good at getting people together, making things happen and creating a positive impact.
